The Silvretta Reservoir is a reservoir in Austria. It is located approximately 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level and covers an area of 1.3 square kilometres (0.50 sq mi). It, along with the Vermunt Reservoir, feeds the Obervermuntwerk II pumped-storage power plant.
Just underneath the Bielerhöhe, in a depression in the Silvretta, is where the magnificent reservoir is located. In 1938 the construction of the reservoir dam began for the 1.3 km² Silvretta Reservoir. The reservoir is bordered by a total of three dams, which you can also walk across on your summer holidays in Tyrol. It's an impressive experience, to look down into the deepest turquoise blue waters from high up on the wall.
