'Søjlen' a part of the art piece by Jakob Kvist.
Søjlen is a light sculpture that is materialized with the help of powerful floodlights in the sky above Copenhagen. The pillar is the largest installation of its kind in Europe, and in clear weather it's visible for more than 3.9 million. people throughout the Øresund area.
The purpose of the Pillar is to create a sculpture of lighted rays that materializes in the air, and intuitively lead people to the starting point of the work.
Just as if you have been looking for the end of the rainbow, the Pillar has a attractiveness that draws people in discovery and requires exploration of the city in search of the light source.
The light will shoot several kilometers vertically into the air, and will therefore during the exhibition period be a permanent component of Copenhagen's skyline - attracting people from afar.
