The Chapel at Festung Hohenwerfen
The chapel was originally a three-aisled building from the 12th century. The current state of construction dates back to the construction phase in the 16th century.
The high altar from 1650 is a work of the master carpenter Konrad Schwarz. In the Middle Ages there is a resurrection christus as well as two late baroque statues by Dominikus Plasisganig from the 18th century. The two side altars were created at about the same time as the high altar. On the left, the altars show Christ at the Mount of Olives, and on the right, St. Benno of Meissen. The octagonal pulpit, originally designed for the parish church of Werfen, was scaled down in 1663 and installed in the chapel.
