Wennberg Silo
The big Wennberg Silo stands as a massive volume at the quayside of the Islands Brewery.
Until 1992, the building, together with Pressesiloen and Frøsiloen, was part of Danish Soy Cake Factory. It was converted into residential housing in 2002-2004 with 142 apartments spread over 16 floors. During the rebuilding, the goal was to preserve the powerful expression of the silo and the memory of a former industrial plant. The main feature of the transformation is the continuous cubes, formed as continuous vertical bands, where large windows can be opened to create a screened balcony in each apartment. The upper houses have private roof gardens and on the 13th floor there is a large shared rooftop terrace. The 'new' Wennberg Silo, also called Islands Brygge 30.
