The red brick wall
At the DR Byen Metro Station, modern buildings of glass and concrete shine between freshly landscaped pastures and serene canals. To the south-west, the protected nature area Amager Fælled stretches with trees, shrubs, reeds and streams. On the border between the windblown new district and the common nature stands a large brick wall. Not an ordinary wall, but a sculpture by Per Kirkeby (born 1938) from 2001-04. It was the Ørestad Company and the State Art Foundation, which in 2000 invited Per Kirkeby, Bjørn Nørgaard and Hein Heinsen to make every work for Ørestaden.
