Årstiderne Arkitekter have developed distinctive residential housing consisting of two high-rise buildings and a low-rise block.
The development is based on architectural elements already present in the area, anchoring it in its surroundings. The flats in the new development enjoy fantastic views over the surrounding area, ample daylight, a good layout, and many of them have balconies.
The scale of the buildings is broken down by incorporating different landscape solutions in the outdoor areas. Large trees provide shelter and form small “rooms”. Small trees match the human scale. Seating areas and varied planting create favourable settings for various activities and play between the buildings.
The roof gardens are planted with grasses and willow trees, making the green areas visible from street level. Informal seating areas invite residents to socialise or relax in the communal outdoor spaces.
The development is inspired by the semi-industrial style of the buildings typically found in the Meatpacking District of New York, with clear lines, finely executed brickwork, distinct concrete bands and large windows.
